It's Adopt-a-Family Time!

Greetings!

WeCAN is gearing up for this year's Adopt-a-Family program to help families in need. The holidays are a joyful time, but for families that are already struggling to make ends meet, gift giving can be out of reach. WeCAN's Adopt-a-Family program helps low income families in our community have a brighter holiday season by connecting them with anonymous gift sponsors.

You can help by taking part in the Adopt-a-Family program and anonymously adopting a family in need. This is a great way for residents, churches, businesses and organizations to share the holiday spirit with our neighbors. Last year, WeCAN anonymously matched 117 families (235 children) in the Adopt-a-Family program. This was all due to an incredibly generous response from our community.

The suggested spending guideline is $50 per child and $50 for a family gift.WeCAN will begin matching families to donors in early November, after they have completed the registration process. Donors will receive a list by email with detailed instructions by November 23rd. The list will describe the needs and wants for each child and for the family as a whole. Donors will shop for their match family and deliver the unwrapped gifts during specific days in December. The recipient families will pick-up the gifts, along with wrapping supplies on designated pick-up days.

We encourage donors able to spend more than the recommended guideline to please consider donating gift cards separately to WeCAN. We are always in need of gas, grocery and Target gift cards for clients with emergency needs during the holidays and throughout the year. Other year-round needs include personal hygiene items and financial assistance for utilities, rent and other basic needs. If you are unable to participate in the full Adopt-a-Family program this year, please consider donating to WeCAN's other needs.

If you wish to participate, please complete the Adopt-A-Family Donor Registration. The program fills up fast. You will receive your match by November 23rd; unless you notify WeCAN you would be able to take a late entry into the program.

St. John's Lutheran Church in Mound has graciously allowed us to use their space for the Adopt-a-Family program again this year.
