Women's Golf Tourney to Benefit WeCAN

The 1st Annual Timber Creek Women's Tournament is looking for golfers and sponsors. The event will be held Saturday, July 21, with registration at noon and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration is $50 per player and includes 18 holes, cart, barbecue and cash prizes after the round. Funds raised at the tournament will benefit Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN), a local non-profit which empowers and equips individuals and families to reach stability and self-sufficiency. This is a scramble event with a Peoria handicap which establishes a handicap for this event for those who do not otherwise have one. Kids Eat Free at WeCAN

For most kids, summer means carefree days. But for some kids, no school means wondering where their next meal is coming from. Several local organizations are teaming up this summer to make sure kids have access to healthy and nutritious meals. The Westonka Foodies from the Westonka School District will be hosting a Free Summer Meals program this year. Lunch meals will be provided Mondays through Thursdays from June 11 to August 16. No registration or sign-up is required for this meal program which serves school-aged children 18 years and younger.
