Emergency Assistance

When crisis hits, WeCAN’s Emergency Assistance program provides community members with grants for financial needs. Our goal is to provide stability and help resolve money emergencies so you can get back on your feet. Assistance is short-term and based on eligibility.

Grant types:

  • Emergency Assistance: A one-time rent, mortgage or utility payment

  • Health Services: Through a partnership with Ridgeview Spring Park
Medical Clinic, WeCAN will refer uninsured clients to needed health
    appointments

  • Emergency Pet Assistance: Small grants to help with emergency
    veterinarian procedures for pets

Eligibility:

Our assistance requires proof of emergency, county or other agency ineligibility, as well as income and other verifications. Clients must reside in WeCAN’s service area. If a client resides out of this area WeCAN will refer to the appropriate social service agency.

Process:

Contact the WeCAN Family Advocate for an appointment by email or by calling (952) 472-0742.

Graciously funded by:

Food Assistance/Programs

WeCAN believes that no one should worry about how they're going to get their next meal. When all the money has gone to pay the bills, you are no longer able to cook your own meals or you can't get to the local food shelf, WeCAN has two food assistance programs to provide food for you and your family.

Employment Program

Unemployment and underemployment are the reality of many of our clients; therefore, the WeCAN Employment Program is a vital component of our service offerings.

Residents applying for services often experience multiple barriers to obtaining employment so volunteers provide intensive one-on-one job search assistance, resume building, and interview skill training.

The Employment Program also provides quarterly budget classes to help clients understand their finances and make good economic choices that will lead them toward self-sufficiency.
